A shared platform for real energy impact
The Global Energy Hackathon convenes students, engineers, entrepreneurs, and community innovators from 20+ countries to build practical solutions to the world’s most urgent energy problems. Partners help shape the challenge, extend the reach, and connect the best ideas to the people and resources that can scale them – with a direct pathway to the in-person Global Energy Hackathon Summit at DTECH 2027 in Atlanta and the 2027 Global Energy Cohort, where winning teams pilot, scale, and deploy their solutions.
Millions of households and organizations face intermittent or negligible energy supply, high costs, and safety risks from theft, tampering, weak grid infrastructure, and limited technical capacity – challenges magnified in resource-constrained settings where capital, skills, and maintenance are scarce. Over a 48-hour sprint, teams design, prototype, and pitch solutions that improve access, reliability, safety, and affordability for households, organizations, and communities. The most competitive pitches earn meaningful recognition, prizes, and follow-on support.

Cash funds prizes and production. In-kind resources are what let 200+ teams prototype at production quality in 48 hours – and what keeps the best solutions alive afterward. Every in-kind contribution is valued at fair-market value and credited toward your sponsorship tier, and we handle distribution, onboarding, and usage reporting.
